Shervin Bikes for Underprivileged Kids in the Tour De Summer Camps

On Sunday, October 31st, the Jewish Federation’s 9th annual Tour de Summer Camps took place. It’s was an amazing day for this event that many gathered as a community to raise money to send more kids to Jewish summer camp. Shervin’s ride was a Metric Century (100KM) ride. Fundraising proceeds from the event enabled thousands of families who otherwise could not afford to send their children on transformative Jewish camp experiences. The team that Shervin raced with, raised nearly $70K (the largest amount raised by a team) of the total $1MM that was raised for the fundraiser. It’s going to be a great summer for these kids!

Jeff Coaches Youth Sports for St. Francis Catholic School

After a year of no sports due to COVID, there was an excitement for the flag football season to begin for these 5th and 6th graders. Over the course of 5 weeks, the team played in 17 games compiling a 14-3 record and winning the Parochial Athletic League championship! As a coach, Jeff had a good balance of getting kids playing time at different positions and competing with other schools. When reflecting on the season, Jeff said, “When I started the season, my main goal was to get all 22 players (comprised of 20 boys and 2 girls) to experience the joy of scoring a touchdown and we were able to accomplish that in the 1st 5 games. Being able to volunteer for my son’s school and see the light in the kids’ eyes as they were able to finally play sports and compete again was one of the greatest coaching experiences of my life.” What an exciting season!

Helping Spread Joy and Cheer with Operation Christmas Child

There is an amazing journey of a simple shoebox gift that is given to children in need around the world. Every year, Stephanie Cruz works with this organization to help contribute and pack shoeboxes for this important cause. Samaritan’s Purse has collected shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items for children around the world. Since 1993, more than 188 million children in more than 170 countries and territories have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever, but also gives them a tangible expression of love. In 2020 alone, more than 9.1 million Operation Christmas shoebox gifts were collected. ‘Tis the season of GIVING!
